Over the next decade, more than 20 “gigafactories” will be built across Europe and the UK as the industry looks to provide self-sufficiency in the battery market, which includes electric vehicles (EVs), battery energy storage systems (BESS) and more. These specialized ultra-large volume productions facilities will be expected to manufacture the necessary lithium-ion (li-ion) batteries to achieve the CO2 reduction goals set at COP26.
Unfortunately, fire safety concerns associated with li-on batteries has slowed BESS and EV adoption. Xtralis can respond to this challenge with a two-part solution – prevention and early detection. By integrating both VESDA and Li-ion Tamer systems, gigafactories can instil confidence in li-ion production by adding two layers of battery health monitoring.

Additionally, the Li-ion Tamer battery electrolyte – often referred to as “off-gas” – detection system provides safety with an enhanced level of battery health monitoring. It can provide non-interrupted or minimal downtime production, help protect against catastrophic losses, and confidently prevent or mitigate against fire damage.
