The new benchmark in beam detection. Using imaging technology, based on a CMOS Imager, the OSID range delivers fast installation and superior detection performance that cannot be achieved using a single photo receiver. The CMOS imager is the equivalent of hundreds of thousands photocells. The automated set up reduces installation time from hours to minutes. The CMOS imagers find and lock on to their detection target (Emitter or Reflector) eliminating building movement issues. The CMOS imager further allows to minimize drastically false alarms from foreign object intrusion and sunlight saturation.
In its simplest configuration, OSID-R (Reflective) uses an imager and a reflector. It operates on the principle of light obscuration utilizing an Infra-Red beam and smart analysis on pixel level of its reflector offering superior performance. Power and connectivity occur in the imager only and the OSID-R only requires a single standard reflector on the opposite wall (and not a larger reflector the further the distance).
Next to this step-in model, there is OSID-DE (Dual ended) that uses a similar CMOS sensor with wired or battery-powered emitter(s) roughly aligned on the opposite wall within the protected area. The emitter sends both infrared and ultraviolet coded light signals to the imager. The innovative use of dual light frequencies in an open-path device enables OSID-DE to discriminate between real smoke and other solid objects. It offers a high resistance to sudden and transient dust and steam clouds, thus drastically reducing false alarms.
The OSID range of open-area smoke detectors deliver a great package for reliable smoke detection in large or open spaces. With the use of CMOS imaging technology OSID not only provides reliable smoke detection but has been designed for rapid installation and reliable operation during the life time of the detector. No longer are installers faced with lengthy and costly installation processes and call backs; and end users are no longer disturbed by nuisance or false alarms associated with building movement; dust or beam interruption. OSID offers a reliable alternative to heat or flame detectors which typically initiate much later in the fire development cycle.
